Family Museum Pass Program

The family museum pass program has been generously funded by the Friends of Spokane County Library District and the Diane E. Zahand Fund. Museum passes for Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, Mobius Children’s Museum, and Mobius Science Center, are available to reserve online. Friends of the Library now part of Fred Meyer Community Rewards

You can help the Friends of the Spokane County Library District earn donations just by shopping with your Fred Meyer Rewards Card!

Fred Meyer donates over $2 million per year to nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, based on where their customers tell them to give. Here’s how the program works:

  • Sign up for the Community Rewards program by linking your Fred Meyer Rewards Card to the Friends of the Spokane County Library District at You can search for the Friends by name or by the nonprofit number PX022.
  • Then, every time you shop and use your Rewards Card, you are helping the Friends earn a donation.
  • You still earn your Rewards Points, Fuel Points, and Rebates, just as you do today.
  • If you shop at Fred Meyer and do not have a Rewards Card, they are available at the Customer Service desk of any Fred Meyer store.

Friends’ Accomplishments 2018

Friends of the Airway Heights Library

  • Donated funds to hire face painter for December Winterfest festivities
  • Provided funds to purchase pumpkins for pumpkin painting at October Slightly Spooky Storytime
  • Held popular stained glass workshops at local business Studio Artium
  • Contributed snacks for September Hobbit Day program
  • Provided funds to purchase watermelons for the July Watermelon Races
  • Provided funds to purchase popsicles for community outreach events over the summer
  • Provided funds to purchase duffel bags for the Duffels for Darlings painting program
  • Held a book sale at Airway Heights Days
  • Members volunteered their time during Slightly Spooky Storytime, Hobbit Day, and Watermelon Races

Friends of the Argonne Library

  • Contributed $300.00 to the summer reading program
  • Contributed $300.00 to Spokane is Reading
  • Sponsored a series of programs highlighting Millwood Businesses in advance of Small Business Saturday
  • Sponsored Unstrung, a music program and open house in the library after hours.
  • Contributed $150.00 to our Christmas Gingerbread Build at the Millwood Masonic Center
  • Had a book giveaway at Millwood Daze to promote the library and the Friends book sale in September
  • Held 3 book sales throughout the year
  • Purchased replacement items for storytime
  • Purchased a new bear for the Children’s area

Friends of the Cheney Library

  • Provided funds to purchase materials for leather & embroidery classes and holiday hoopla crafts
  • Purchased toys for Cheney storytimes
  • Held three successful book sales throughout the year
  • Hosted a book discussion group every month for eight nonconsecutive months
  • Donated funds to help sponsor the following external events: Cheney Mayfest, Spokane is Reading, and City of Cheney’s Concert in the Park series
  • Purchased poinsettias to display in the library during the holidays
  • Helped to sponsor and Small Business Saturday, Dia Day, and the summer reading program

Friends of the Deer Park Library

  • Provided funding for Spokane Is Reading
  • Provided funds to pay for Summer Reading program presenters
  • Held six successful book sale fundraisers throughout the year
  • Provided funds to pay for treats/entertainment for the Deer Park Library’s 20th Anniversary    Extravaganza
  • Sponsored a music concert at Deer Park’s summer concert series as part of our Summer Reading program
  • Sponsored the Family LEGO Competition at the Deer Park Winterfest celebration
  • Sponsored Northern Slam, a multi high school poetry slam at the Deer Park High school
  • Provided funds to help support the after school and summer Snack Program
  • Provided funding and support for Deer Park’s Pumpkin Lane Community Event
  • Purchased a large canopy for staff to use at community events
  • Sponsored and funded poetry workshops at Deer Park and Riverside High Schools

Friends of the Fairfield Library

Friends of the Medical Lake Library

  • Sponsored and led a monthly book club
  • Provided funds for the summer reading program
  • Provided volunteers and funding once a month for Medical Lake Monday
  • Staffed a table at Register to Vote Day
  • Provided food for Medical Lake Community Saturday at Medical Lake Middle School
  • Sponsored two summer concerts in the park
  • Purchased and helped to decorate Duffles for Darlings bags

Friends of the Moran Prairie Library

  • Donated eight boxes of books towards the Friends of the Fairfield Library’s November book sale
  • Donated $550 towards annual Poetry Picnic program
  • Donated $300 towards Historic Grange Dinner and Dance
  • Hosted two book sales
  • Hosted table to recruit new members for Friends of the Moran Prairie Library at the following events: National Night Out, Poetry Picnic, and Historic Grange Dinner and Dance
  • Donated $300 towards Summer Reading
  • Donated $200 towards Spokane is Reading
  • Donated $1632 to purchase new meeting room tables for Moran Prairie
  • Donated $50 toward gift cards for April Book Club meeting held at local coffee shop

Friends of the North Spokane Library

  • Funded the supplies and honoraria for the library’s Creator in Residence program
  • Purchased sewing machines for our sewing programs in the Lab
  • Donated $2500 toward the Spokane is Reading event
  • Donated $2000 toward summer reading programs
  • Funded the prizes for our summer Pokémon Tournament
  • Purchased a laminator and sheets for staff projects
  • Provided tea and coffee for North Spokane staff

Friends of the Otis Orchards Library

  • Hosted two book sales in May and October
  • Donated to the summer reading program and the senior fitness program
  • Coordinated and hosted a going-away breakfast for the former library supervisor
  • Held a Christmas breakfast for Otis Orchards staff in December
  • Seasonally donated holiday themed items like pencils and candy for library customers

Friends of the Spokane Valley Library

  • Sponsored Spokane Valley Poetry Slam
  • Donated funds to the summer reading program

  • Donated funds to Trunk-o-Treat at MacDonald Elementary
  • Contributed to two six-week internships for teens working the Spokane Valley Library Studio
